| Nothing completes a look and adds glamour like jewellery. GF Bridal Couture offers a wide selection of costume jewellery that will complement your gown on the day, as well as become a memento that you will love to wear for many years..
It doesn't matter whether you're going for daring-diva, or classic and clean, on your wedding day the key is always balance.
A pearl and crystal tiara may be perfect when paired with a matching necklace, but can become a bit much when you add a pair of dangle earrings and a bracelet to the mix. As a general rule, your combination of accessories should reflect the formality of the celebration. A small, informal wedding calls for a simple ensemble, while a large, formal wedding can be the perfect stage for more elaborately paired pieces.
EARRINGS
Earrings are the most important piece of jewellery, besides your engagement ring and wedding band. Earrings are the finishing touch to any outfit; they frame the face and will show up in all your photographs.
Drop earrings will lengthen the face, whereas large posts will add fullness.
A little word of caution: Before selecting your earrings, finalize how you will be wearing your hair. Hairstyle will influence the earrings you select. If you are wearing your hair long and down, you will want to avoid any possibility of your hair becoming tangled with your earring.
NECKLACES
As with any outfit, the necklace you wear will depend upon the style of the dress, type of neckline, and how much detail is on the neckline and bodice.
- Classic : Traditionalists prefer classic diamonds - either as a solitaire, string or choker.
- Elegant : High or simple scoop necklines generally require a simple piece, whereas a wide-open neckline allows for many different options.
- Romantic : Pearls are always popular. Diamante necklaces or chokers in floral, heart or radiant styles complement the scooped or square necklines of the Romantic collection.
- Avant garde : This season's trendiest styles are chokers and lariets, or coloured crystal.
Select a necklace to complement your neckline:
- Sweetheart or Strapless: An extremely versatile neckline. Keep the length under 18" so you don't crowd the neckline.
- Jewel: With this high, rounded neckline choose necklaces that fit close to your throat.
- Halter: A low or wide cut dress will allow for a necklace but if the halter is high and narrow or comes to a point at the hollow of your throat, go without. Choose a pendant or necklace that drops in a "Y" shape or a lariat that is tied in front.
- Asymmetric: Keira Knightley pulled it off at the Academy Awards, but a necklace generally is not a good idea since its symmetric lines may clash with the gown. Rather go for earrings, a bracelet and pretty headpiece.
- Square: Strong right angles define this neckline so a necklace with an easy, curving shape is a nice way to soften the lines.
- V Neck: Choose a necklace that imitate the lines of the dress. If it is cut rather high, look for more delicate designs so you don't crowd the neckline.
- Scoop: A versatile neckline and most any style necklace will be flattering.
- Low Back : This neckline is the perfect style to showcase a necklace that is as beautiful from the back as the front. Try a necklace with a back dangle or a lariat tied in back.
BRACELETS
The most popular bracelet is several coils of pearls. Tennis bracelets are also favoured. Charm bracelets with all your "good luck" charms will feel special, but keep in mind that anything that dangles or is loose around your wrist may become a hindrance.
WATCHES
You do not need to wear a watch. As the star of the show, who needs to worry about time?
ANKLE BRACELETS & TOE RINGS
With the increasing popularity of mules and sandals, what could be more appropriate for glamour and to define your style?
